A space in the facility that fascinates me are shared spaces. “Analysis reveals how both interior symbols and the use of the common living room reflect unclear and somewhat inconsistent expectations. The boundaries between the public and private spheres are ambiguous and thereby differ from the comparatively sharp boundaries characterizing a home” (Hauge, 2007). Although a “home-like” decor is used in these rooms to aid in “attachment to space” residents able to retreated to privacy. How can design in the environment encourage interaction to increase quality of life?
